Boy, 10, dies from H1N1 in Southern Nevada

The Southern Nevada Health District reported that a 10-year-old boy died within the past week from the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, bringing the total number of deaths in Southern Nevada to 40.

The boy had underlying health conditions and died following a lengthy illness, the health district said.

There have been 3,495 reported cases of H1N1 in Southern Nevada since Aug. 31.

The health district has received 172,000 doses of the H1N1 influenza vaccine. The vaccines are now offered to the general public.
