55-year-old man dies from H1N1 in Southern Nevada

The Southern Nevada Health District reported Wednesday that a man died within the past week from the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, bringing the total number of deaths in Southern Nevada to 39.

The patient was a 55-year-old man with no underlying health conditions, the health district said.

There have been 3,494 reported cases of H1N1 in Southern Nevada since Aug. 31.

The health district has received 172,175 doses of the H1N1 influenza vaccine and administered more than 131,900 doses since October 2009. The vaccines are now offered to the general public.
