Gibbons makes appointments

CARSON CITY – Gov. Jim Gibbons has elevated Las Vegas lawyer George F. Ogilvie III to be chairman of the Colorado River Commission that is responsible for acquiring and managing Nevada’s share of water and hydropower from the Colorado River.

Ogilvie, who has been on the commission since 2007, succeeds Chairman Jay Bingham who was not reappointed by the governor. Gibbons selected Berlyn Miller as Bingham’s replacement on the commission.

On the State Board of Medical Examiners, the governor named Drs. Michael Fischer of Carson City and Theodore Berndt of Reno to replace Drs. Steven McBride and Sohail Anjum, both of Las Vegas.

The governor reappointed Dr. Benjamin Rodriguez and Suzanne “Renee” West, both of Las Vegas, to the examiners board that regulates physicians in Nevada.
