More than 60 fans filled the Boulder Dam Hotel lobby Aug. 22 to meet purse designer Mary Frances and to enjoy a fashion show featuring her work.

The lobby filled up again in the afternoon for a concert by pianist Dan Troxell.

Both events cleared $1,200 for the Boulder City Museum and Historical Association, manager Roseanne Shoaff said.

Periwinkle Cottage, which sells Mary Frances purses and Dan Troxell CDs, sponsored both events. Other local businesses, including Hollywood Gems, Lady Boutique, Hottest Dam Boutique and CAbi Clothes, provided clothing and jewelry for the fashion show.

Frances ate lunch with her fans before the fashion show and autographed purses, said Karen Pellouchoud, owner of Periwinkle Cottage.

"One thing that always amazes me is how down to earth Mary Frances is," Pellouchoud said. "She was just an amazingly nice person."

Shoaff said the fundraiser was successful, not only in the money it raised but also in the exposure it brought to the Boulder Dam Hotel.
