FLASHPOINT:
Awkwardness ahead at Anti-Defamation dinner
Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.
There is no better cause than that advanced by the Anti-Defamation League, and the local chapter is holding its annual dinner Oct. 17 in Las Vegas. The ADL had quite the spectacle a year ago when then-Las Vegas Sands executive Bill Weidner, long before the town hall crazies were doing it, compared Barack Obama to Hitler in an inflammatory speech before a group that eschews politics. This year the ADL is honoring the state’s two U.S. senators as well as Jewish activists Art and Jayn Marshall. How could the ADL have known John Ensign’s scandal would break? And the speaker: Attorney General Eric Holder — while the Justice Department may be looking into Ensign’s behavior. Get your tickets now. Great cause. Fascinating dynamic.
