What does it mean to the governor’s race now that Joe Heck has opted to go for a seat — Rep. Dina Titus’ — he has a much better chance to win? The main beneficiary, at least from this vantage point, would seem to be Brian Sandoval, the ex-federal judge seeking the GOP nomination. In a four-way race with Heck, Mike Montandon and Gov. Jim Gibbons, it’s not completely unthinkable that the incumbent could sneak in. A three-way is more problematic. Maybe. Montandon might argue that with three, he takes conservatives from the crippled Gibbons and wins. Maybe. But won’t Sandoval get the money? And, more important, among the names we know and some we may not yet, who will actually file in March?
