Fatal shooting
A 40-year-old man was shot to death Saturday evening in the parking lot of his apartment complex, Metro Police said.
Officers responded at 8:41 p.m. to a report that a man had been shot at the Shepherd Hills apartments, 1950 Simmons St. That location is south of West Lake Mead Boulevard and north of West Vegas Drive.
Police said the man had taken his children inside his apartment and returned to his vehicle when the shooting occurred. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
No arrests have been made. The man's name wasn't being released early Sunday.
Anyone with information is being asked to call Metro homicide detectives at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

north las vegas. shocker, huh?
No shooting is random. There's always a underlying reason for it.
@babyboomer thats what I was saying, there has to be more to the story nobody, just shoots no one for no reason. If it wasent a robbrey then there had to be words exchange, but only the shooter and the guy who died know what happend..
Really? Tell that to the parents of the student killed in summerland.
What about the mother shot on nellis in her car at an intersection? What was the reason?
I'm confused by stevem's constant negative attitude about Vegas or anything connected with Vegas. Why do you live and do business in a city that you are so obviously unhappy about? We're not that different from a lot of large metropolitan cities, except that we're not a large metropolitan city. We have good and bad just like anybody else. So again...why do you live and do business in a city that you are so obviously unhappy about?
