There is a new commander in charge of the advanced training program at Nellis Air Force Base.

A ceremony was held this morning to officially welcome Brig. Gen. Stanley Kresge as the new head of the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center.

Kresge comes to Nellis from Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., where he served as the director of Air, Space and Nuclear Operations and was responsible for organizing, training and equipping all Air Force space and missile operations.

He assumes command from Maj. Gen. Stephen Hoog, who is leaving to become the deputy of Combined Forces Air Component Commander for U.S. Central Command in Southwest Asia.

Hoog has been at Nellis since 2007 and initially served as the commander of the 57th Wing, before his selection as the Warfare Center commander in 2008.

The center is responsible for shaping the way the Air Force fights through advanced training, operational testing and tactics development in air, space and cyberspace.
