County commissioners voted today to waive their 4 percent cost of living increase, saying they should not take a bump in pay while other county employees are asked to forgo their raises.
Relinquishing the raises for the seven board members saves $20,640 toward a $126 million shortfall in the next fiscal year budget.
The salaries vary because of the longevity pay increases that make the longer-serving commissioners’ salaries higher. Chairman Rory Reid’s salary is $81,682.56. Larry Brown and Steve Sisolak have the same salary, $71,463.38. Tom Collins, Chris Giunchigliani and Lawrence Weekly are paid $74,249.28. Susan Brager’s salary is $68,653.44 (lower than some of her shorter serving colleagues because she voluntarily gave up a prior raise).
