777th show? McCambridge hopes move to Planet Hollywood will be lucky

Mentalist Gerry McCambridge isn’t superstitious but he says when he moves his popular show from Hooters to Planet Hollywood on May 15 his opening night will be his 777th performance since moving to Las Vegas four years ago.
“That must be some sign of luck for my new venture,” he says.
McCambridge has been at Hooters for two years. He closes his show there on May 14 and opens in his new venue the following evening, a 300-seat room in the V Theater inside the Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood.
Tickets for his new show are $39.99 general admission and $49.99 VIP. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Tuesdays. Dark Wednesdays. For information call 260-7200.
McCambridge was at Hooters for two years. Before that he performed at the Sahara and the Rampart.
The Long Island, N.Y., native has been a professional mentalist for more than 20 years. His father was a New York City detective and an expert at interrogation. McCambridge says he learned some skills from observing his father at work. He performed his first show at the age of 12 and started touring the country at the age of 15.
McCambridge has studied memory techniques, body language, hypnosis, linguistics, statistics, law of averages, non-verbal communication, magic, acting, theater and stand-up comedy, all of which he uses in his act.
