The race between City Councilman Steve Ross and attorney Jennifer Taylor has so captivated Ward 6 residents that 262 of them cast ballots during the first three days of early voting. The Henderson mayor’s race has so entranced the public that about 1,500 people had voted through Monday. And the excitement in North Las Vegas wasn’t far behind with about 1,300 people flocking to the polls over the weekend and Monday. Can you feel it, folks? The excitement. The electricity. The fires of democracy burning brightly in Southern Nevada. If this pace keeps up — and early voting is a significant part of the total vote — I dare any of the eventual winners to use the word “mandate” on Election Night.
