Florence Baird

Florence Thorley Baird, 85, passed away on March 7 in Cedar City, Utah. Florence was born Oct. 21, 1923, to Morton C. and Rachel Harris Thorley in Cedar City.

Florence was the only one of seven children that was born in the hospital. She grew up in Cedar City and graduated from Cedar High School.

After moving away from Cedar City she met and married James Brook Butters. They had three children, Albert "Bunk" Brook, James "Dink" Morton and Marci-Katherine. They later divorced and Florence moved back to Cedar City with her family. She went to work as a telephone operator and enrolled in college full time. She worked hard and was able to make the honor roll. When she received her teaching certificate she moved to Henderson to start her teaching career. While living in Henderson, she met and married Gene Baird.

Florence is survived by one son, James; two grandsons, James and Brook; two great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Diane; sister, Helen "Wally" Flanigan; brother, David (Joey) Thorley.

She is preceded in death by a son, Albert; daughter, Marci Kay; husband, Gene; sisters Alta, Elliot and Pat, and infant brother, Evan.

Graveside services were March 14 in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Swindlehurst Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.swindlehurstfuneralhome.com.

Craig "Scotty" Bell

Craig "Scotty" Bell, 79, of Las Vegas, died March 10 at a local hospital.

A resident since 1969, he was born May 10, 1929, in Glasgow, Scotland, where he served a seven-year apprentice in carpentry and joinery.

After serving in the British Army, he immigrated to Syracuse, N.Y., in 1952, where he met and married his wife, Helen.

He was involved in the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in New York and continued his involvement in Masonry after he moved to Las Vegas.

He was a charter member of the Zelzah Shrine, was chapter dad of Oasis Chapter of DeMolay and district deputy for Southern Nevada.

As a member of the Carpenters Local No. 1780, he worked at many Strip hotels doing finish carpentry work. By the time he retired, he was director of facilities for MGM Grand Hotel.

He enjoyed golf and baseball and was a member of First Presbyterian Church and O2 on the Go Support Group.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen, sons Craig and his wife, Regina, of Colorado and David and his wife, Eula of Henderson; grandsons David and Austin of Henderson; sister Jane Finlayson of Scotland; and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by sisters Helen Gorman, Margaret Galloway, Mary Perkins and brother David Bell.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. March 23 at First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas.

Delores Fuller

Delores C. Fuller, 72, died March 12 at a local hospital.

A Henderson resident since 1962, she was born Feb. 13. 1937, in McKinney, Texas. She was a homemaker, raising three children.

She is survived by her husband, John, of Henderson; children Stephen Fuller of Olympia, Wash., Linda Diane Mogren of Henderson and Robert Fuller of Las Vegas; and grandchildren Nathaniel Lee Fuller of Maryland, Karen Mogren of Columbus, Ohio, and Lisa of Henderson.

A memorial service will be held 9:30 a.m. March 20 at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. A graveside service will follow at 10:40 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Jean Goudy

Jean Goudy, 78, of Henderson died March 13 at her home with her family by her side.

A resident since retiring here in 1994, she was born Sept. 1, 1930.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Pershing of Henderson, sons Bob Goudy of Henderson, Bill Goudy of Brawley, Calif., and Brad Goudy of Franklin, Idaho; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. March 23 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.

Willia Hussey

William Driscoll Hussey, 64, of Henderson died March 14 after a battle with cancer.

He and his wife, Colleen, retired to Henderson nine years ago after a career in academics at Ohio State University, where he earned his master's and doctoral degrees. Later, he served as vice president of Lima Technical College in Lima, Ohio.

He played golf and with his wife was an avid member of the Sun City Anthem Hiking Club. He also ran with the Las Vegas Running Club.

Born in Manchester, N.H., Oct. 15, 1944, he loved the arts, theater, music and all sports, especially those involving the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In addition to his wife, Colleen, he is survived by his son Sean and his wife, Zinnia, of Columbia, Md., and grandchild Liam, who was born the day he passed. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Dolan of Florida and a brother Michael of Washington, D.C.

Albert P. Reinhardt

Albert P. Reinhardt, 88, of Henderson passed away March 15 in Boulder City.

He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in West New York, N.J., to Charles and Emma Reinhardt.

Albert had lived in Henderson for 30 years and he had previously resided in New Jersey for 58 years. He had been retired for 17 years. Albert was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served during World War II as a gunner. He spent a year as a POW in Germany after his plane was shot down.

Albert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillian Reinhardt of Henderson; daughters, Karen Drake of Henderson and Linda Sloan of Reno; son, Gary Reinhardt of Henderson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:20 a.m. March 23 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City. Chaplain Marvin Gant will preside.
