A car collided with a power transformer and knocked out power to about 1,000 homes Saturday, a spokesman for NV Energy said.

The collision occurred at Windmill Parkway and South Eastern Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Adam Grant with the power company said power was returned to the majority of homes within an hour.

Henderson Police stopped the driver, who had left the scene and headed north after the accident, at Robindale Road and Eastern Avenue, said police spokesman Keith Paul.

Metro Police were called to the scene because the accident occurred in their jurisdiction.
