Finally, Mayor Oscar Goodman gets his apology from the White House for the outrageous suggestion that companies shouldn’t use bailout money for junkets. Phew. Vegas is saved. On bended knee, President Barack Obama came to Mount Oscar. Well, sort of. Well, not really. Instead, a White House spokesman delivered a simple message in a press briefing: “I think the president, despite what some people heard, was very clear about the delineations between families and businesses traveling versus the need to ensure that appropriate protections are in place for taxpayer assistance used to help financial institutions stabilize themselves.” Some people! Some people just wanted to exploit those remarks for attention. Who could they be?
