Beyond the Sun

Three Square, a local nonprofit organization feeding hungry Southern Nevadans, now has an off-site donation collection point at the Las Ventanas continuing care retirement community.

Las Vegas Valley residents on the west side can more conveniently drop off food for the needy at the community at 10401 W. Charleston Blvd., at the corner of Town Center Drive. All canned goods are accepted, but the greatest need is for high-protein foods such as canned tuna, chicken and peanut butter.

"We wanted to make it easier for residents on the west side of town to help others during these tough economic times," June Connelly, Las Ventanas executive director, said. "By being a permanent drop-off site for Three Square donation, we hope to receive contributions from people who would otherwise not make the drive to Three Square's headquarters in the northeast valley."

Three Square was established to end hunger in the valley by providing wholesome, nutritious food to nonprofit organizations that serve a wide range of Southern Nevadans in need. For a list of most-needed items or additional information, visit www.threesquare.org.
