LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
GOP should follow or get out of the way
Saturday, March 7, 2009 | 2:03 a.m.
Let it be known that I am a Democrat and quasi-conservative, but I would never consider myself a Republican. I read the news, a number of different papers, and I check out those same stories on the Internet. I will even listen to those conservative morons on the radio.
I am tired of listening to these people who can only complain about what our president is doing. Like most armchair quarterbacks, they know what he is doing wrong, and they are not too proud to shout it from the rooftops.
Let me say this and I want to be very clear: Our president is trying to fix the stupid mess Republicans have created and left for the American people. What some Republicans don’t want to do is allow this man, Barack Obama, to try to fix the problem. President Obama has given the United States hope again, a feeling we the American people have not had for eight years.
There are Republicans who complain that this bailout is too much and doesn’t help enough people, yet they gave President George W. Bush whatever amount of money to waste away on a war, so he could show up his daddy. Republicans are, by their very nature, stealers of hope.
All I can say is: “If you’re not going to be part of the solution, you are part of the problem and America, love it or leave it!”
Please leave.

To expect the Republicans to stand by and allow this country to sink into the pit of socialism, to see private property rights not upheld, to witness unprecedented welfare spending, to allow taxes to be increased on those who should be rewarded, not punished, believe me , that will never happen.
Just because I believe that less government is better I should leave my country? If I don't agree with the views of Mr. Tucker, I should leave my country? I am not aware of anything that the President has asked for being denied to him. Each vote has and will go his way. Democrats are in charge, good luck to them. I hope they pull us out of this mess soon. But I reserve my right to disagree and voice my opinions. After all, this isn't Russia.
Again I ask the questions Republicans refuse to answer? Why was it not a debt crushing thing on the backs of future generations to invest 10 Billion dollars a month on the war in Iraq but we cannot afford universal health care for all American (legal) citizens? Why? please tell me why?
Another question: Republicans had at least 6 of 8 years under George W. Bush to create more high paying jobs, require big corportaions to remain in this country but chose to do nothing. They had the power to control Wall Street fraud, but did nothing. Why didn't the Republicans do what they claim they want Obama and the Democrats to do now, do it then when they were in the White House and controlled the Congress? Why, Tell me why?
Allan,
If you think writing a letter to the editor that is full of hate and accusation is going to make our country stronger, you sir are the problem.
We don't live in a monarchy. Nobody is king.
Congress is the root of the problem. They just glad-hand each other and make sure their cronies are taken care of while the country burns.
I did not vote for Obama and I hope he succeeds. I don't care for his policies but I love my country.
Dissent is what drives our country. When the Repubs were in charge, the Dems went crazy. Now that the Dems are in charge, the Repubs are going crazy.
The circle of life.
As for leaving the country, when you were five did you take your ball and run home when somebody made you mad?
Thought so.
vsestini--Why no universal healthcare? The Iraq war did not prevent universal healthcare. This country doesn't know how to implement universal heathcare. It means different things to different people. The welfare system is so abused now that people are disgusted with paying for their own healthcare and for those that sneak in the back door and receive it anyway.
Canada has universal healthcare. A few years ago the brother of the then prime minister of Canada spent the night on a gurney in the hospital hallway after suffering a heart attack. The next day he told his brother the Prime Minister--"we have to do something about healthcare in this country". The healthcare system in this country, and the special interests, and the common everyday citizen are all in play. I favor a hybrid plan in which the government offers an alternative plan to the private plans, to keep the private plans honest.
On your other question about the 6 out of 8 years that Bush had to get higher wages in this country, I have come to the conclusion that we live and breath in a global economy. I guess that I am a little more of a free trade believer than you may be, I dont know. But in the long run business and individual workers will tend to gravitate to where their labor, capital, and ingenuity will earn the greatest returns. It's not always that simple but that is the general idea. You are right about the abuses on Wall street, but I believe this financial meltdown spans at least two administrations. There is enough blame to share among presidents, and congresses for this crisis.
You Democrats just dont get it do you? You see, us "evil" Republicans as you obviously view us, dont want to see the US turn into Venezuela. This mistake that you voted into president will make Bush look like a choir boy after his one and done presidency.
Also, in case you have forgotten, just because we dont agree with your communist loving, terrorist loving saviour Obama, does not mean we have to leave the country. If that was the case, why didnt you leave the country when Bush was in office.
Just another loud mouth Obama kool-aid drinker.
If the GOP is now going to raise Limbaugh to the top of the party's leadership, then that's one way of assuring the continued demise of the Grand Ole Party. Rush, following the recent election, seemingly can't get over the fact that all of his hate-filled huffing and puffing, race laced innuendos, adhominems and self congratulatory rhetoric didn't convince anyone except himself. Finally, his presence in the GOP, if accented, will assure that the Grand Ole Party will continue to look like and remind one of Apartheid South Africa some forty years ago and giving our enemies one continuous recruiting tool. South Africa changed. What is happening with the GOP? Lincoln must surly be crying.
Yes, get out of the way. It's the President choice if he wants $4 billion to go to ACORN. It's Obama's choice if he wants $500,000 to go to La Raza. It's the Presidents choice if he wants to tax carbon and raise the cost of gas, diesel, electricity, cars, and everything else made in America? Notice things imported are exempt because India and China are exempt from emission standards. Let's leave it up to Obamam even though your retirement fund is down another 30% since he was elected. Raise taxes on investment, which makes them worth less, and then wonder why the market cannot recover. It's an Obamanation to us all.
Bigsky,
"Apartheid", really??!! I think you and Allan are kool-aid drunk.
Unbelievable how the left can throw bombs and NOBODY is supposed to question it.
Bigsky, did the memo that went out to you and the media say that Rush is the target of your hate or your new diversion? The liberals and their in the tank main stream media have elevated Rush Limbaugh to the top of the Republican party. For weeks now, all we hear about is Rush Limbaugh. He has as much right to his point of view as you do. He holds no position in the Republican party that I know of. Why can't you just have a discussion on the issues without bringing Rush Limbaugh into it? If you think big government is the answer then you are in for good times ahead.

Let it be known that I am a Democrat and quasi-conservative,].........
Let it be known that I could care less about who and what you are.
roncee;
Dude, it's an editorial.
"Hope?" "Change?" ROTFLMAO! The only feeling the American people have is fear and dread and everyone knows it.
>>>>There are Republicans who complain that this bailout is too much and doesn't help enough people, yet they gave President George W. Bush whatever amount of money to waste away on a war, so he could show up his daddy. Republicans are, by their very nature, stealers of hope.
Come back when you get an education and can explain to us how the Democrat Party of America voted for and passed every policy of Bush. Come back when you can tell us why the Democrats voted for the war and then as soon as our troops were under fire turned around and stabbed the troops in the back undermining them every step of the way.
>>>>All I can say is: "If you're not going to be part of the solution, you are part of the problem and America, love it or leave it! Please leave."
No. You leave. We are going to stay right here and expose you and this administration on daily basis. Just as you blamed Bush for every little thing that went wrong whether it was his fault or not, whether he had direct control over it or not - so shall Obama be given the same measure.
Democrats - they can dish it out, but like the crybaby punks that they are - can't take it.
This is a whiny thumbsucking Nerd Administration.
THE MOST THIN SKINNED ADMINISTRATION IN HISTORY!
You know what they say, when they can dish it out but can't take it - "pour it on!"

Nobody cares, does that qualify you for something special?
>>>>I read the news, a number of different papers, and I check out those same stories on the Internet. I will even listen to those conservative morons on the radio.
You get a gold star for reading a number of different things Johnny! LOL That information was again oh-so-pertinent.
The reason you are listening to conservative intellectuals on the radio is because the American Left doesn't have any radio to speak of because your garbage doesn't sell to a center-right nation.
>>>>I am tired of listening to these people who can only complain about what our president is doing.
So? Go take a nap, no one cares what makes you tired.
>>>>Like most armchair quarterbacks, they know what he is doing wrong, and they are not too proud to shout it from the rooftops.
Boy you just get more intellectually impressive by the moment, don't you. Just think, you represent this entire bunch who support the Usurper-in-Chief. Come back when you can show us a Democrat party that didn't spend the last 8 years Wanting Bush to Fail and actively working to undermine Bush and the WOT. Come back when you can do that. Didn't think so.
>>>>Let me say this and I want to be very clear:
You wouldn't know clarity if it bit you.
>>>>Our president is trying to fix the stupid mess Republicans have created and left for the American people.
Your Kenyan President is clueless at best and a rabid Marxist.
>>>>>What some Republicans don't want to do is allow this man, Barack Obama, to try to fix the problem.
Come back when you can show us how the DemocRATS acted for the last 8 years. How they did not want to allow Bush to fix problems and Wanted Bush to Fail.
Allan Tucker - You sir, are a perfect example, again, of what is lost on the left. As many have already stated, it was OK for the liberals to cry over EVERY move Bush made. But with the new administration, are those who dissent are expected to stay quiet while the country heads further down the sewer? I think not. This, the greatest nation on earth, was founded on dissent. Oh, sorry, maybe you missed all twelve years of history lessons. While all of the previous comments are correct in pointing out your ridiculous accusations and absurd answer for discontent, I believe you should also heed your suggestion: If you do not like the right dissenting, or the manner and frequency in which they dissent, Please Leave!

The reality of what really happened to our economy and who is to blame goes like this.
The real reason we are in this mess is that anyone with money, a business or employees knew a few years ago we were going to get a big government, tax and spend us into oblivion Democrat President.
They (we) started to preserve what was going to get stolen from us and given to those that cannot afford their lifestyle "the peasants". And the spiral began, because the more this president steals from the working and plans to give to the non-working it will continue in this cycle.
This Pres has done more damage in 50 days to America than could ever have been imagined possible in America.
As soon as we get back to protecting property rights, contracts and agreements and get back to the concept of "work your ash off every day or live under a bridge" the sooner we will get back on track.
To sum it up, The sooner we let people fail for their actions, the sooner people will succeed because of them.
Mr Tucker claims to be a "quasi-conservative." I'm not really sure exactly what that is. A true conservative would never have to claim to be one. His actions and words would do that for him. And I see nothing in Mr Tucker's editorial that shows he is one
Why does Obama keep so many tax cheats around him?
