St. Patrick’s Day festivities planned for Henderson
Friday, March 6, 2009 | 2:24 p.m.
Downtown Henderson will be alive with carnival rides, children's games, food and crafts for the 43rd annual St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival from March 12 to 15.
The event is hosted by the Southern Nevada Sons of Erin, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Irish heritage throughout Southern Nevada.
The festival's hours are from 5 to 10 p.m. on March 12 and 13; from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on March 14; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 15.
Admission is free, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Water Street at 10 a.m. on March 14.
Also included in the festivities will be an art show inside the Henderson Convention Center, a beer garden and a carnival and kiddie land.
Last year's parade and festival drew more than 40,000 people to downtown Henderson, said Steve Morrissey of the Sons of Erin. Proceeds will benefit Positively Kids, an organization dedicated to supporting medically dependent children in Las Vegas.
"Downtown Henderson and Water Street will be the place to be," Morrissey said. "This event has grown every year."
