What are you, a comedian?
If you think you might be Bonkerz Comedy Club will hold a comedy school in Palace Station. The six-week class begins March 12 and meets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.
Bonkerz Comedy School is $250 per student and includes two complimentary tickets to each Thursday show at Bonkerz Comedy Club during the course. To register for the class, please call (866) 414-2665 or e-mail info@bonkerzcomedy.com.
The classes will let each comic focus on his or her own stand-up material and teach techniques to help with timing, delivery and working the crowd.
The course’s main instructor, Mick Lazinski, will offer the students insight from his real-life experiences as a comedian. Lazinski has headlined at comedy clubs all over the country and opened for acts such as Joan Rivers, Craig Ferguson and the legendary George Carlin. His television appearances include “Comic Strip Live” on Fox, “Comedy on the Road” on Showtime and “Caroline’s Comedy Club” on A&E, among others. In addition to Lazinski, the comedy school plans to bring in celebrity comics as guest instructors.
On April 5 and 19, comedy school students will have the opportunity to enter a two-part contest in which the winner will perform in a professional show at Bonkerz. For the contest, the students will perform during the Sunday Comedy Jam at 9 p.m. on April 5 and 19. Their performances will be judged by Lazinski as well as the evening’s audience members. Tickets for the Comedy Jam are $9.95 plus tax and fees.
