A telling moment

There was a telling moment at the Nevada Republican Men’s Club on Monday. The club’s president, Brian Scroggins, decided to raise a difficult subject with the group — the ongoing GOP civil war over absolutism on taxes. He wanted the group’s thoughts on the question: “What is a real Republican?” Scroggins raised the scorn being heaped on lawmakers by smashmouth activist — and former Republican — Chuck Muth as context for the question and then wondered what those in attendance at Cili thought of what was happening in the party. Scroggins waited. And waited. And waited. The gathered Republicans — 100 or so — munched on their salads at the South Strip restaurant. But no one wanted to take on the subject. So Scroggins quickly moved on.
