North Las Vegas to get new library

The North Las Vegas Library District will open its third full-service library at 9 a.m. on March 11.

The $12 million project includes a library and park at 1755 W. Alexander Road with 16,400 square-feet of library space, meeting rooms with a children's area, public access computers and thousands of book and multi-media titles.

The park includes tot lots, shade structures, paved walking paths and demonstration gardens.

Library officials said the new library provides a valuable resource to area residents and will serve students who attend eight nearby elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools.

"We are excited to open this long awaited and much needed library," District Director Kathy Pennell said. "We expect that it will be very busy given there are approximately 14,000 students in the immediate area."

For more information, call Kathy Pennell at 633-1070.
