Free HIV tests, town hall meeting and energy assistance

Free HIV testing
The Southern Nevada Health District is offering free HIV testing on Saturday in recognition of National HIV Testing Day.
The health district will be at Nevada Partners, 710 W. Lake Mead Blvd. in North Las Vegas, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and at Canyon Ridge Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Rd. in Las Vegas, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Results will be available in seven to 10 days following the test.
Testing is always available at the Southern Nevada Health District, 625 Shadow Lane, and no appointment is necessary.

Collins host Town Hall
Tom Collins, county commissioner of District B, will host a town hall meeting on June 30 starting at 6 p.m. at Bob Price Recreation Center, 2050 Bonnie Lane, near E. Lake Mead and Nellis boulevards.
Citizens living in the district are invited to talk with Collins, Sen. John Lee (D-North Las Vegas), Assemblyman Jerry Claborn (D-Las Vegas), Clark County School District Trustee Sheila Moulton, representatives from Metro Police, Clark County Fire Department and other county departments.

Senior Energy Assistance Expo
Senior citizens can receive up to $350 toward paying past due energy bills by attending an expo on July 11.
Permanent residential customers of NV Energy who are at least 62 years old or who are medically fragile are eligible for assistance.
In addition, eligible applicants must not have received energy assistance in the previous 12 months, their NV Energy bills must be in the applicants name, they must live at the address for which assistance is requested and must be within the maximum annual gross income guidelines. For example, the maximum gross annual income for a household of one or two people is $29,300.
Applicants should bring a photo ID, past due electric bills and proof of income.
The expo runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Community Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Park sculpture dedication
Lawrence Weekly, commissioner of District D, along with the artists will dedicate a new statue in the Dr. William U. Pearson Park at 9 a.m. on July 17
The park is at 1625 West Carey St., near N. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The statue "Reach" by artists Dayo Adelaja, Sylvester Collier, Denise Duarte, Adolfo Gonzalez and Vicki Richardson extends 16 feet high from its concrete base and is meant to be inspiring, uplifting and show community pride.
