Rick Shelton moved to Las Vegas in 1986, and worked in finance for five years before choosing a career in real estate. For four years, he worked at Richmond American Homes and Pulte Homes before opening his own business. In 2000, Shelton and his partner established Re/Max Associates. As owner and broker, Shelton has grown the company to more than 200 employees and is ranked in the top 10 percent of Re/Max companies in growth and production. Shelton has been involved for many years with the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. He has simultaneously served as director for the GLVAR and the Nevada Association of Realtors. Currently, he serves as president-elect of the GLVAR, meaning he is in line to serve as president in 2010. He served as vice president of GLVAR in 2008. In 2006, he received the Nevada Distinguished Realtors award from NVAR. In 2007, he received the Joanne Levy Leadership Scholarship from NVAR and is a member of the 2007 NVAR Leadership graduating class. Shelton is also active in local and national charities. Former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn recognized his work with The Children’s Miracle Network with a proclamation naming Oct. 28, 2000, Re/Max Associates Miracle Run Day. The Sertoma Foundation has also honored him with the Man of the Year award for participating in its annual baseball camp for disabled children.
