Michael R. Townsend is the chief operating officer of The Montecito Cos., a Las Vegas-based commercial real estate development firm primarily focused on the development of anchored shopping centers across the southwest. Townsend has more than 30 years of experience in development, construction, real estate, property management and financial management dealing with both residential and commercial projects. His background includes 20 years of commercial developments in the Las Vegas Valley. Since 1994, Townsend has developed more than 5 million square feet of commercial property, including retail, office and industrial projects in the Las Vegas Valley and another 2 million square feet in three other Western states. He has also managed more than 12 million square feet of commercial property throughout the western United States and Texas. Townsend is also the chief operating officer of Gateway Realty & Management, a boutique investor representative. Gateway provides ultimate due diligence with 25 years of expertise in the Las Vegas Valley real estate market. Townsend has effectively closed on more than 14 million square feet of commercial leases and 400 acres of commercial land since 1993. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton, California.
