Cher’s daughter announces sex change
Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 5:39 p.m.
Chastity Bono is having a sex change to become a man. A spokesman for Bono, born a girl to Sonny and Cher, says he "has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity" and began the sex-change process earlier this year.
Publicist Howard Bragman said Bono is proud of his decision and hopes "that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue."
The 40-year-old writer, activist and reality-TV star came out as gay 20 years ago, Bragman said.
In the book "Family Outing: A Guide to the Coming-Out Process for Gays, Lesbians, & Their Families," Bono describes the realization of being "somehow different — specifically different from who my mom expected me to be."
A message left with Cher's representatives was not immediately returned Thursday.
Bono's second book, "The End of Innocence: A Memoir," details how relationships with Joan, a lover, and Sonny and Cher changed after coming out.
In 1995, Bono posed for the cover of the gay magazine The Advocate and began working for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

Huh?
Slow news day.
Kudos to Chaz for having the courage to come out as publicly as he has. Still, I look forward to the day when a transperson following their destiny is no more remarkable than the sun rising or tourists losing more than they planned at the slot machines at McCarran. Until then, the work continues :)
She was the cutest little girl. See here:

Goodbye chastity!
Courageous and we are proud of his decision...
The media pays too much attention to b.s. items such as this woman subjecting herself to an aberrant lifestyle.
the reality here is that when she becomes a he, and he claims all rights as a man, then he will no longer be able to claim that he is gay, he will be a man who likes being with women, thus a heterosexual male, what lesbian is going to be with a male?,, uh none any lesbian takers? i doubt it
Arthur:
Why do you assume that Chaz is going to be straight? By the way, there are lots of FTM transmen who couple with women, some of whom see themselves as straight, some as lesbian and some as bisexual. I think Chaz will do fine. :)
because he will be a heterosexual male, a male that likes women, i also know of gay couples that didnt make it after the operation because that partner was no longer the same sex, thus that attraction to the same sex that makes you gay, chaz as a man will like women, thus now a heterosexual male, simple logic, as for making it, chaz has his parent that is extremly rich and famous so the odds are better for chaz than that of a truck drivers daughter that has no money or resouces
