The Polynesian-themed Trader Vic’s inside the Miracle Mile Shops will soon be closing its doors.
A spokesperson for Miracle Mile said the restaurant will be closing but he didn't know the timetable. A formal announcement on the closing will be made soon, he said.
Trader Vic’s general manager Jerry Yanez said employees are scheduled through next week and the restaurant will operate as planned until the announcement is made.
Trader Vic’s opened in the Miracle Mile shops in 2007. The restaurant, opened in the 1930s as Hinky Dinks, operates 26 restaurants in 13 counties.

well booo, while I have never eaten at TV (too pricey) the LA Comedy Club upstairs there is a great and cheap place to go. I have been a half dozen times and really enjoyed myself each time. not sure how they could keep it open as you have to walk through TV to get to the comedy club.
This is a sad portent for the other restuarants and businesses in the Miracle Mile. We don't need to lose anymore jobs.
I blame Harry Reid.
Darn. Where am I going to go now when I want a $5 soda?
I went to the one in San Francisco, it was a big deal way back when, just like Senor Pico's.
There are too many casinos, shops, restaurants, etc. the more that go out of business the better, las vegas is overbuilt, commercial, residential, hospitality etc. overbuilt for the next 4 to 10 years.
oh! no!
really sad!
i loved this place. vegas needed a tiki bar and this place was perfect.
just a sign of the times, folks. vegas is not "recession proof". there simply isn't enough people coming to town and spending enough money for these places to make their margins.
and what happens on the strip eventually ripples out to the suburbs. i just saw both melting pots are closing.
