(UPDATED STORY: Applications roll in for brothel’s male prostitution jobs)
Business is so slow at the Shady Lady Ranch that the owner of the Nye County brothel wants to add a few shady men to her roster.
Bobbi Davis, the owner of the bordello located about 150 miles northwest of Las Vegas, is set to start interviewing men who aspire to be prostitutes.
“We’ll start out with one or two,” Davis said, adding that she is “looking for men in their early 30s to mid-50s” who are in good shape and want to entertain women.
The applicants might soon even be able to shop their resumes around. George Flint, spokesman for the Nevada Brothel Association, said the ailing economy has four other bordellos considering the possibility of adding men.
But Flint doesn’t think the idea will work. Joe Conforte tried it 30 years ago when he owned the Mustang Ranch outside Reno “and found it was not a viable concept,” Flint said.
Flint said the concept also is “probably socially unacceptable.”
Davis disagrees. She wants to try it out and see what kind of reaction she gets. “We feel this is an untapped resource,” she said.
When Heidi Fleiss, “the Hollywood madam,” talked about opening a bordello for women customers, it generated worldwide publicity, Davis noted. But Fleiss couldn’t get a license because of a felony conviction.
Davis said the charges for the new services will be based on the time spent because women don’t want “quickies – wham bam, thank you madam.”
The minimum would be two hours, probably at a cost of $500, she said. Three hours would cost $700 and four hours, $1,000. An overnight stay would be $2,000.
Flint cautioned that the administrative code in Nye County would have to be changed for this to work.
The regulations regarding prostitution refer to female body parts only. “All of the Nevada Administrative Code is built on the female anatomy,” said Flint.
This has to be a vast untapped market. The premises for male prostitutes should be in a different venue than the female prostitutes. The details will need to be ironed out.
Gay prostitutes will have to be next. You cannot discriminate in the Obamanation.

I think there are many professional women out there who would appreciate a venue for attractive male interaction/companionship on the woman's terms especially if it was treated like a spa with additional services other than just facials and massages.

Finally, male prostitutes for women!! It's about time. Women want it just like men... but it's socially unacceptable so no one dares! Girls are taught that our sexuality is more sacred; they have more body image issues as well as less financial means, and called "sluts" if they like sex. That's why male prostitution for women hasn't worked thus far. Let's have equality for women! Men can be whores too.

It's an interesting idea. At some level do we believe that it's okay for a man to do something "way out" in Las Vegas like enjoy sex with a woman he doesn't know in exchange for money, BUTTTT . . . what if it was your wife ?. . or your girlfriend ? or daughter . . or (horrors!!!) your Mother !!!

Lianmolive- There are serious flaws in the "if men are studs, why are women whores?" argument. One- Women can get pregnant and until very recently, men could have consequence-free sex (and even still only have financial responsibility), not to mention the fact that men are biologically wired to spread their genes as much as possible, while women are designed to find the single most suitable mate. Two- overwhelmingly, women aren't interested emotionally unattached sex, while almost all men are. Three- the dynamics for men and women are totally different. A relatively attractive man could go out and try to have sex and maybe be successful twice a week on average, while an obese, toothless woman can CHARGE FOR IT multiple times a day. This is what Nutsack was referring to- any woman can walk into a bar and go home with a good-looking guy in ten minutes flat. If she can't do that and needs to pay for it instead, then what is wrong with her? Now, this is a generalization- some women do desire the services of a pro; it's just that most don't.
Sorry Vincent--plenty of women would be interested in good BS-free sex, especially knowing that when they're paying for it...it's all about THEM and THEIR pleasure.
There are a lot of lousy lovers out there. Too many guys either have no idea how to please a woman or just don't even bother trying. The idea of going to a "pro" sounds good to me.
The only part of the article I don't understand is ... "looking for men in their early 30's to mid-50's". Mid 50's??? What the ...? Who wants to pay for a guy that probably needs viagra? Bring on the 25 year old hotties. My advice would be to lower the recruiting age limit ... by a few decades!
Maybe they are recruiting Men in their mid-fifties for their blind clientele......

Vincent has a point. The lack of male prostitutes for women is not necessarily due to upbringing. There had been attempts to run such brothels in ( Europe) in the past without success.One "Madam" had this to say about the reasons for the eventual closure: The lady customers rapidly got infatuated with specific male prostitutes, then began to behave practically as if these prostitutes were their real boyfriends. This was intolerable for the said male prostitutes who had no personal interest in the women. According to this "Madam" some of these women telephoned the prostitutes constantly, sent tearful messages, and even had fits of jealousy tantrums.But all this is not surprising. As Vincent has already pointed out,this makes sense in terms of evolution, and hence, the observed behahiour is hard wired in the female brain and subject to hormonal control. There are exceptions to every rule, of course.
Vincentvega - thanks for reply. I disagree with you entirely. Scientists have discovered with birds (who females were thought to be monogamous were, in fact, "sleeping" around even after they have found a mate. Seriously. We do not have any definitive proof that women are interested in only one sexual partner.

The second flaw to your position in that "most woman aren't interested in emotionally unattached sex." Wrong. Ever hear "friends with benefits?" And if there is truth to your position, is it biological or psychological/societal?
The thing that is utmost importance is... what are the social constructs to which is attributed to biology? It's hard to distinguish because society (religion, parents, culture, media, etc.) plays a huge role in how we operate. Girls are taught that our sexuality is sacred, somehow more special. You know... don't give up the "goods." The "goods" being our bodies. Boys are taught "yeah, hive five! Way to go!" Don't you think that way of thinking and teaching defines us?
Take away notions of slut-hood, address medical conditions, rape, incest, financial hardship, body image issues (Women must be pretty first and foremost and we feel obliged to shave and wax and exhaustively groom ourselves prior to intimacy), masturbation for women (which is seen as shame or as something wrong), lack of orgasms (especially the first time with someone new), safety, and double standards. Well, believe me, you will find Women LOVE Sex and would pay for it. Better yet, you would probably find more available women willing to have casual sex so that men wouldn't pay.
On a personal level, I think about sex daily... I believe most women do but won't admit to it or have been brianwashed to suppress it. Yet I woulnd't dare give into a one-night stand, not because I don't want to, but because of a few of the reasons stated above. Men might think about more, but women aren't too far behind.
Eliminate the social constructs... eliminate sexual repression, and we will be a more equal society with healthy sexuality and good quality sex!

Are there women out there who want "bs-free" sex? Obviously, but generally with someone they like. Why would they pay for it? I'm sure you can find some guys who like to be jerked-off with chopsticks, but it doesn't mean there are enough to sustain an industry. And you're ignoring the part of my post when I said "overwhelmingly." The reason the male prostitute industry is a non-factor is simple supply and demand. All women can have free sex with strangers. Most men need to pay for it. And I'll ask you this Lian: If you love sex with strangers, why aren't you getting rich doing it? And for one last analogy: A homeless man who secures a steak for dinner is impressive; a rich man who eats one every night is a glutton. Men are considered "studs" because getting laid takes something (qualities, effort, luck, etc.). Women don't play by the same rules, so don't expect them to be judged as such.

I agree that the supply and demand is not fully there, but I contend it's not due to biological differences as much as societal's. It would be a struggle to find to find women clientele, but Vincent, you're ignoring all I said about social constructs!!

I agree there are biological differences, but they have been so twisted by religion and culture that we often confuse a social norm for a physiological fact!
For women so have sex with strangers also takes something (qualities, effort, luck). For example, why do you think someone who looks like Susan Boyle doesn't get laid? It's not mere biological differences why male prostitutes will have a more difficult time succeeding, albeit that's part of the equation. Men must have an erection... can you imagine the god-awful response a woman would feel if a professional couldn't get it up?? Yet another reason why there are barriers.
The point to all this is we should all strive for equality, which means supporting an industry that will no doubt have difficulty succeeding, like women's pro-sports. 100 years ago... who would have thought that women also liked sports? Or pornography, women like it too, but once again we are programmed to shy away from it (as well as the offensive content which can be demeaning to women).
Maybe we should play by the same rules...
Once again to my main point, take away the barriers (which will take decades to do) and you will find plenty of women who would pay for it... and, most importantly, you would find more willing to engage in unattached casual sex so that there is less of a need to pay in general.

There are plenty stories or men falling in love with prostitutes -- many men who become obsessed with strippers and those in bdsm. Only these industries catered to men have plenty of men bodyguards and safety guards to protect women. I wonder if they had the same in Europe.
What happened in Europe is also just a small sampling... imagine if a larger group with diversity were patrons?
That one example is not sufficient enough to say well women are "this way" without understanding other causal components.

But I didn't. I would rather have a Male. One reason I didn't was that I didnt know If I could trust the woman/man to have in my room. I also wanted what would happen to stay in Vegas. The south as a whole, is not open to Prostitution. But it does exist. I myself found it refreshing that it is sooo open in Vegas. Men and Women have needs. This is really gross. I've never understood how anyone could pay a prostitute for sex and not feel completely dirty, desperate, diseased, and disgusted with themselves the next day. Male or female.

Has no one here ever heard the term GIGILO? Someone also noted that there are a LOT of us guys out here who are just plain lousy lovers, either don't know how to please a woman or don't care if they do. Okay, Henderson, prepare to be totally turned off and grossed out. I'm a guy who will admit I've had sex with a prostitute when I was a young GI stationed in Germany. Didn't feel any of the "D's" you mentioned. The sex was pretty good. Ever heard the expression "Hire the best: Hire a Pro"?
