James E. Norman Sr., 72, a former Henderson resident, died July 8 at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Born Nov. 4, 1936, in Escanaba, Mich., he worked in construction as a finisher. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and met his wife, Catherine, while stationed in England.
He lived in Michigan, Kansas, Illinois and Wisconsin during his career, and retired with his son in Virginia in 1996. He moved with the family to Henderson in 1998 and lived in the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City from 2004 until his return to Milwaukee in 2006.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James E. Norman Jr. and Jean Reid Norman of Henderson; grandchildren Michelle Hinterthuer and husband Brian, John Cataract and Jennifer Martin, all of Milwaukee, Wis., and James R. and Janiece Norman of Henderson; great-grandchildren Brian Hinterthuer II, Jenna Hinterthuer, Damien Martin and Mia Keller of Milwaukee; brother Robert Norman and wife Donna; sisters Jewel Shortridge, Roberta Payne and husband Roger, and Jeanne Knuuttila and husband Reynold; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine “Kitty” Norman, daughter Ruth Lofton and sisters Jeannette and Theresa.
Services were held July 11 in Escanaba, Mich. Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home of Escanaba handled the arrangements.
