Five members of the Aryan Warriors prison gang were found guilty today in federal court of conspiracy to engage in a racketeering organization.
James Wallis, known as “Gargoyle,” 48, Robert Young, 31, Kenneth Krum, known as “Yum Yum,” 49, and Charles Gensemer, 45, each were convicted of the racketeering conspiracy charges, which consisted of multiple acts involving murder, attempted murder, extortion, operating an illegal gambling business, identity theft and fraud, and drug trafficking.
Krum, Gensemer and Michael Wayne Yost, 55, were each convicted of drug conspiracy charges. Gensemer also was convicted of possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking offense. Wallis was additionally convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Ronnie Lee Jones, also known as “RJ,” 49, was found not guilty of all charges.
The defendants face up to 20 years in prison and fines ranging from $25,000 to $1 million. Gensemer faces life in prison and fines up to $8 million on the drug conspiracy charges. Sentencing hearings for the defendants are set for Oct. 7.
Fourteen defendants were originally charged in the case. Seven pleaded guilty and Ronald “Joey” Sellers is awaiting trial.
Authorities said members of the Aryan Warriors gang, made up of white men, distribute narcotics, extort money from people through threats and violence, run illegal gambling operations and assault other inmates. The organization, which operates in Las Vegas and elsewhere in the state, wants to control the Nevada prison system, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
