Obit: Phyllis Toms

Phyllis Ann Toms, 78, died June 26 in Bakersfield, Calif., after a three-year bout with cancer.
A Boulder City resident for 26 years, Toms was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Detroit. She moved to Bakersfield in 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Charles, of Bakersfield; children Chuck and wife Larraine, Sherrie Schunck, Karen Anderson and her husband Thearon, Phyllis Toms of Boulder City, Michael and wife Christy and Christine Crane and husband Jack; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Plagens of Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mercy Hospice of Bakersfield, Calif., mercybakersfield.org.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. July 2 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Hites Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
