Two pit bulls involved in attack euthanized

Both of the pit bulls that were involved in an attack on two horses in Silverado — leaving one critically injured and the other dead — have been euthanized.

The attack occurred Nov. 27, 2008, on the 8000 block of Rancho Destino Road, near Windmill Lane and Gilespie Street.

Clark County Animal Control Sgt. David March said the owner of the horses found the dogs attacking his horses in his backyard.

Both dogs were consequently picked up by animal control and scheduled for euthanization.

Robert Adams, who identified himself as the owner of one of the dogs and said the other was a stray, that had been coming on his property, appealed the euthanization of one of the dogs.

That appeal was denied by the Clark County Animal Advisory Committee Dec. 30.

Adams then had about 10 working days to take his appeal to court.

March said that appeal was never made, so both dogs were put down.
