Sometimes irony is right there and you don’t see it. So there I was the other day, wandering around Town Square as my daughter and a friend shopped, and there were the new, plush Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce offices. The huge chamber sign caught my eye right away. But it wasn’t until I glanced downward from the chamber’s third floor suite that I began to chuckle: Right below the chamber’s complex was a familiar retailer, Banana Republic. So let me get this straight: A group that basically has taken the position for years that Nevada should be relegated to getting all of its money from one place and has had no progressive vision is sitting atop a Banana Republic. Oh, it’s just too good to be true.
