Bettors take in a day of action at the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook. The Hilton lists Kansas as the favorite to win the NCAA Tournament at 5-to-2.

In perusing the 21 pages of his company’s Super Bowl proposition plays, Hilton sports book executive director Jay Kornegay cut to the chase.

“If the Super Bowl is decided by a safety in overtime,” he said, “I’m not sure we’d be open on Monday.”

Kornegay was being a bit facetious, no doubt, since those two propositions are among the no-parlay wagers.

Still, those are long shots that the Hilton wouldn’t like to see happen.

They are commonly known as tourist specials.

Overtime in the Arizona-Pittsburgh game Sunday in Tampa, Fla., is a +850 bet at the Hilton. That means a $10 wager would earn $85.

No overtime is -1200. So it would take $120 to earn $10. There has never been overtime in a Super Bowl.

Yes on the safety bet at the Hilton pays +900. So $10 would make $90. No on that wager is -1300. It would take $130 to make $10.

Kornegay, who cut his Super Bowl proposition teeth at the Imperial Palace, said there are more than 300 such wagers on the Hilton’s sheets this year.

More than in the past, he said, there are propositions divided into the first half and second half.

“There are crazy ones,” Kornegay said. “Everyone likes to look at the crossover sports. They laugh at that. It’s fun to talk about.

“The most popular ones are the simple ones, like the over and under on the jersey number of the player who scores the first touchdown. It’s real simple but pretty popular.”

The over-under on the jersey play is 38 1/2, at -110 either way.

Pittsburgh’s touchdowns, giving 1/2 at +130, are also on a prop against total goals by Lazio and AC Milan in the Serie A in Italy.

Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner’s touchdowns are a pick ’em, at -130, against Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James’s made 3-pointers that day.

Kornegay said he expects Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to receive an abundance of attention from bettors.

Fitzgerald is 6-1 to score the game’s first touchdown and 6-1 to score the last touchdown of the game.

There also is a Fitzgerald prop bet – No. 3959, a pick ’em at -110 – on him scoring more touchdowns than goals scored by Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals.

“He’s had a terrific playoff run,” Kornegay said. “Players who perform well leading up to the Super Bowl will definitely receive a lot of attention.”
