Entries sought for art show

Southern Nevada artists are invited to submit their works to City Lights Gallery's first juried fine art show.
The show Feb. 16 at the Liberace Museum Showroom, 1775 E. Tropicana Ave., will benefit the interior renovation of the nonprofit downtown Henderson gallery.
"We're trying to expand our exposure and make people more aware of City Lights and our space at 3 Army St.," said Aileen Dike, art show coordinator.
She said the entry fees will go toward the gallery's planned $1,200 renovation. The organization would like to expand its show space at the gallery by covering the windows. It would also like to re-paint the walls and add track lighting.
The gallery recently renovated a room into an artists' studio for a watercolor painting class.
To participate in the show, artists from the Henderson Art Association, Boulder City Art Guild, Nevada Watercolor Society and the Vegas Artists Guild must bring their work to the Liberace Museum from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 16.
Judge and artist Sylvester Collier will select winners that afternoon in two categories: photography and painting, which includes mixed media.
Artists can submit as many as three paintings; the cost is $15 for the first and $10 each for the following two.
Admission is free to the reception, which is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 17 and includes a tour of the museum. Pianist Dehner Franks will play on the Liberace grand piano in the showroom. Ribbons will be awarded at 7 p.m.
To fill out the paperwork early, contact City Lights Gallery at 260-0300 or the Boulder City Art Guild 293-2138.
