CityCenter announced today it is beginning to accept reservations for the Vdara Hotel and Aria Resort and Casino.
Vdara will open Oct. 1 and Aria will open Dec. 16. The Mandarin Oriental and Crystals retail and entertainment district will open in early December.
Vdara will have nightly room rates of $159 to $2,000. The non-gaming hotel is 57 stories high and has 1,495 suites, ranging from 500 to 1,650 square feet.
Aria's nightly room rates will range from $179 to $799 with suites ranging from $500 to $7,500. The property includes 4,004 rooms and 300,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

There are not going to be more customers, just more room so the occupancy rates will decline. Jobs all over town will be lost as these open in these times. Compound the sad economy with President Obama telling business that its a wasteful extravagance to have meeting in Las Vegas and I am sure even these hot properties are going to suffer.. How many Nevada jobs will harry Reid sacrifice to be in a bit of power.
It's not a great idea to book a hotel room for 499 dollars plus tax plus resort fee plus energy surtax etc etc etc without knowing that the hotel will open on time. In addition to that, it's a big gamble as nobody knows what will be in 6 months. I can only see it as a way MGM Mirage is trying to raise money in order to pay other interests for its huge debt load. So, everbody: Watch out and save your money. There's enough other hotels around too book your room at, ....at much lower rates than the ones advertised....

There is a market for those who want to say they were the "1st" people to stay at the hotel, that's all this is. I bet you they sell out night #1 and unless they require a 2 night stay I see occupancy dropping off thereafter.
It's a revenue grab, you are right Boris, but I think it will work.
Ya isn't this just what we need - more high priced rooms that average joe can't afford to pay for? Why in the world would anyone want to pay that kind of money for a bed to sleep in? If I paid that much for a room I wouldn't leave it - and so how does that help gaming if everyone stays inside their over-priced room? Bed must be made of solid gold huh?
