I read with interest a story in Friday’s Las Vegas Sun (“Reid’s views on overhaul taking shape”) in which Sen. Harry Reid declared his support for a public option. I completely agree that a public option is required if we are to give all Americans access to quality, affordable health care.
I was a health care provider for 27 years until illness disabled me in 2002. Although I had good health insurance (supposedly), my portion of the bills forced my family into bankruptcy in 2004.
Health care reform that includes a public option will save millions of Americans from financial ruin while ensuring that they get the treatments they need.
I am proud of and grateful to Sen. Reid for supporting a public option. Give ’em health care, Harry!
