Sewer, ramp work ties up local roadways

Sewer work to close lanes on the Strip at Tropicana

Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana Ave.

Construction will slow down vehicles on Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue this week.

Work on utilities for McCarran International Airport has affected traffic on Tropicana Avenue near the Strip since March.

While that work is almost done, lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue will close again while contractors install sewer vent pipes for the Clark County Water Reclamation District.

Beginning Monday morning, two southbound lanes on Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed, as will the westbound turn lanes on Tropicana used by cars turning south on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Work will continue around the clock so the lanes can reopen by Friday.

The sewer work is being done at the same time as the airport project to eliminate the need for the water reclamation district to create a separate control plan that would interrupt the intersection again next year, Department of Aviation spokesman Chris Jones said.

The airport project is on track to be done on time, which is by the end of September, Jones said.

I-15 work to close roads, ramps

Motorists can expect delays and closures as work continues on the Interstate 15 project from the Spaghetti Bowl to Craig Road.

U.S. 95 ramp closed

The ramp from U.S. 95 to northbound I-15 will be closed from 6 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday while crews work on the ramp. Motorists approaching I-15 from the east on U.S. 95 can take the Eastern Avenue exit to Washington Avenue to get on I-15.

Carey Avenue bridge

Carey Avenue will be closed in each direction at I-15 beginning Thursday and going through November. Drivers looking for alternatives can take Lake Mead Boulevard or Cheyenne Avenue to cross the freeway.

D Street/Washington Ave. interchange

The D Street/Washington Avenue onramp to southbound I-15 remains closed, but the exit ramp from northbound I-15 to those streets reopens Monday and the exit ramp from southbound I-15 opens Friday.

Work on the freeway near Washington Avenue and Lake Mead Boulevard will continue to cause delays for motorists on those roads.

Sewer work closes parts of Harmon on both sides of UNLV

Sewer work east of UNLV

Sewer work west of UNLV

Work on sewer lines under Harmon Avenue will be expanding this month, requiring lane closures on the road east of UNLV.

While the timeline for all of the work has not been finalized, lanes on Harmon will begin being closed this week between Eastern Avenue and McLeod Drive.

Eventually the project will go all the way to Pearl Street, one block east of Pecos Road.

Crews will be doing work Monday through Friday, and the lane closures will be in effect for 24 hours a day.

Work on the west side of the campus will continue to affect traffic around the Harmon Avenue/Koval Lane interchange.

During the month of September, one lane in each direction will be closed on Harmon from Kishner Drive to Audrie Street and one lane in each direction will be closed on Koval from Tompkins Avenue to Harmon.

The Clark County Water Reclamation District began updating the sewer system around the campus in July.

Construction continues on Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive

Decatur Boulevard

Work continues on the Decatur Boulevard/Alta Drive intersection in Las Vegas.

Lanes on Decatur will be restricted daily from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday and ending Friday morning.

Lanes will not be closed on Alta during this phase of the project, but lanes will be narrowed.

The city has been working on the intersection since the beginning of July. In addition to a new signal, crews have repaved part of the road and are improving the sidewalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Flood control work to close lanes on Rancho Drive, Oakey Boulevard

Rancho Drive and Oakey Blvd.

Work on a flood control project in Las Vegas will require traffic restrictions around the intersection of Rancho Drive and Oakey Boulevard.

Rancho Drive will be restricted to one lane in each direction through the interchange from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Traffic will also remain restricted on Oakey between Rancho and Campbell Drive while crews install water lines under the road.

The closures are part of work on a $6.2 million storm drain improvement project that began in February.

The project, which runs along Oakey from Birch Street to Cahlan Drive, should be completed by the end of the year and is being funded by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.

Paving shifts lanes on I-15 near Overton

Interstate 15 paving

Motorists leaving the Las Vegas Valley on Interstate 15 may encounter lane shifts on the freeway near Overton.

The interstate is being repaved from mile marker 95, near the Logandale/Overton interchange, to mile 112, near the East Mesa interchange.

Shoulders in some parts of the work area are closed and traffic lanes are shifted in five-mile increments.

The $12.2-million project began in April and is expected to conclude in November.
