Las Vegas High sophomore quarterback Hassan Henderson shined Friday night in his first game under center for the Wildcats.
Henderson passed for 320 yards and five touchdowns to lead Las Vegas to a 48-21 victory against visiting Douglas High of Northern Nevada.
Two of Henderson’s touchdowns, passes of 37 and 16 yards, went to sophomore running back Farrell Victor. Victor also had a 47-yard touchdown run.
The duo replace quarterback Emir Lopez and running back Reggie Bullock, who led Las Vegas to its sixth straight regional title last year.
“We had a lot of young kids that we were concerned about that were kind of struggling a little bit,” Las Vegas coach Chris Faircloth said. “But they stepped up and we are very happy with the outcome.”
