Letter to the editor:

Weakness is the cost of bipartisanship

I have been a supporter of Barack Obama and have high hopes for his presidency. I am dismayed, however, at the prospect of an administration so dedicated to bipartisanship that it shies away from doing what is right.

I think it is a mistake to allow yourself to appear so weak when dealing with people who obviously make partisan goals the primary focus of their efforts. I wonder, is it no longer possible to elect anyone who truly puts the needs of the people first? To me, bipartisanship in the face of negative resistance is just another political game.

True leadership means that sometimes you must drag the people kicking and screaming to what they need.
