Two of the grand dames of Nevada politics will celebrate birthdays in the next few days. Harriet Trudell, whose activism for social justice and whose passion for decades has been extraordinary, celebrates her 77th today. Trudell is almost an anachronism in these days of careful, craven pols — she is a fierce fighter who has never surrendered. The other venerable lady is Myrna Williams, the former assemblywoman and county commissioner who also has spent decades dedicated to causes she believed in. She was one of the first to raise the concept of “fair share” in Carson City and she fought Yucca Mountain before it was cool. Williams turns 80 on Wednesday. Happy birthday, ladies, and many more.
