Letter to the editor:

‘Socialist’ cries mask hecklers’ motives

Linda Turner, in her Monday letter to the editor in the Las Vegas Sun, headlined “Angry at industry’s misguided pawns,” states that “these so-called angry opponents, in their zeal to ‘break’ President Barack Obama at any cost, risk cheating themselves and the rest of us out of needed change and our very survival.”

She also says that the town-hall spectacles shouldn’t be hailed as “vigorous debate” and goes on to support her arguments with some great examples. She also mentioned a fact that has been grossly overlooked: “our only health service that is in fact owned and operated by the U.S. government” is Veterans Affairs.

Question: Why hasn’t the VA system been mentioned much by anyone, especially most of the conservative Republicans, as an example of a somewhat viable system to help insure the remaining uninsured?

It seems as if most of those people who argue against reforming health care or, to be politically correct, health insurance reform are speaking from a point of view that supports classism, rather than speaking against socialism. Seriously, would this generation of American people allow a government to bring socialism to fruition? No!

Our Constitution won’t allow that to happen. There would be a mass uprising before that happens. In saying that, I think many of the cable news network shows have clearly been helping the evil big businesses (those who are concerned only with growth and profiting) push their pro-status-quo agenda.
