You don’t see news releases too often from a candidate that manage to insult the two highest-ranking officials of his party. But that’s what former North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon did Friday in the space of two paragraphs. First: “Mike has made the decision to run for governor because he has recognized, as we all have, that we desperately need leadership that is effective and principled.” As opposed to Jim Gibbons, perhaps? And second: “Mike is a Reagan Republican. He believes in the Constitution, smaller government, innovative solutions, and living a life that is beyond reproach. He and his wife, Antoinette, have been married for 22 years and have five children.” As opposed to John Ensign, perhaps? Subtle.
