100-plus temperatures return

Normal summertime desert heat to linger this week

Don't turn off the air conditioner yet -- it's back to the 100s again today for the Las Vegas Valley.

After a cold front pushed in slightly lower temperatures Saturday, a dry westerly flow of dry and stable air will bring clear skies and normal summer desert heat back to Las Vegas today, the weather service said.

Forecasters say today's high temperature will be 102 degrees, which is normal for today's date. The record high for today is 113 degrees, set in 1939. Saturday's high was 99 degrees.

Tonight's temperature will dip to 76 degrees, which is slightly cooler than the normal reading of 77 degrees for this date. The record low temperature is 58 degrees, set in 1938.

The extended forecast calls for 100-plus degree heat to continue this week. The highs will be 103 degrees Monday, 102 Tuesday, 103 Wednesday and 103 Thursday.
