Crime:

Man found beaten, dead along freeway

Body found

A man who may have been homeless and camping along U.S. 95, near Desert Inn Road, was found dead Friday night, apparently beaten to death, Metro Police said.

Dispatchers received a call about 5:21 p.m. Friday from a citizen reporting that a man was in the brush along the freeway siding, possibly dead.

Metro officers and emergency medical personnel responded and found the body of a white man in his late 30s or early 40s suffering from apparent head trauma, police said.

Investigation revealed the victim may have been homeless and camping on the freeway siding when somebody beat him and left him on the ground near Desert Inn, police said. His remains were discovered by citizens taking a shortcut through the siding area, police said.

The identity of the victim will be withheld pending positive identification and notification of his family by the Clark County Coroners Office.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Metro Homicide Section at 828-3521.
