LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Enough outrage for many issues

Sen. Arlen Specter thinks the outrage he sees at town halls is about more than health care and that it isn’t representative of Americans’ real feelings. Well, he is half right.

The anger and outrage are about much more than health care. No one feeling represents all Americans, so not everyone is outraged, but the outrage expressed is real and it is spreading.

How out of touch with real Americans our senators and representatives are.

I am typical, I would guess. I am 56 years old and my investments are worth about 50 percent of what they were worth two years ago. My house is worth about 60 percent less than it was. I own and operate a small business with my wife, and business is down 50 percent. Retirement? I don’t even think about it anymore.

Our government spends and spends and spends and the economy sinks. My standard of living sinks with it. Big banks and big business are bailed out but small businesses are left to fend for themselves.

Public employees (I used to be one) mostly watch the disaster outside go by as their train safely passes.

Yes, I am angry and not just about health care, and I am not alone. How out of touch Sen. Specter and his colleagues are.
