LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Mob museum would not help city’s image

Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 | 2:02 a.m.

The mob museum will attract a fair number of visitors downtown, but like visitors to the Fremont Street Experience, they will spend little time or money downtown.

I believe the greatest impact of the mob museum will be to add to the classless image of downtown and the idea that Las Vegas is not the place to have any type of serious gathering.

  1. Hey Frank >>>>> The only reason that some people would think that las vegas is not a place to have any type of serious gathering is because this city promotes FUN AND MORE FUN true that's are bread and butter, Other wise nobody can beat us on Lodging, Food and Beverage, Transportation, and Entertainment, and a Major Airport that is only 15 minutes from any Strip Hotel or just 20 minutes from Downtown" I think we will be just fine.

  2. What is wrong with portraying this important part of Las Vegas' history. I have herd from a number of old timers that when the Mob ran the Casinos they were much more honest than are the current operators. Besides, I bet that if the Mob were still in charge, the little cockroaches who hand out the porno cards on the strip would be gone.

  3. How about NOT bringing the Neverland Ranch Amusement Park to Las Vegas. They are honoring a Pedophile and now a dead drug user. How about making Las Vegas back into a adult place.

Tell all these idiot's to keep their kids in Disneyland/Disneyworld or at home. When the mob ran this town, you would never see the kids in casino's with the parents gambling and the kids running around unsupervised.

Being a casino worker, maybe Gaming Control needs to patrol the casinos and start nailing all these parent who get ticked off cause casino security is bothering little Johnny and Jane to keep away from the machines. Since all the casino's are caring about now is the money they can make from the parents. But if security or other workers does not do their job and gaming fines the casino. The worker's loose their gaming cards and their jobs.

  4. Will harry Reid and junior be the main exhibits?

  5. There is a small museum on Boulder Highway in Henderson and why not expand that one so families and kids could go to a museum like my family went to. It was informative and fun to go to. As far as the mob museum as long as it is being paid for by the Las Vegas taxpayers and not my tax money go for it. Also I believe Henderson is preparing to build a science type facility which would also be good for the families here. Of course that is my opinion and I could be wrong.
