Robert Alan Eby, 62, died Aug. 8 after a long illness.

Eby was born in Coulee Dam, Wash., on Jan. 10, 1947. He graduated from Ephrata High School and attended Big Bend Community College and Washington State University.

He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation as a journeyman machinist for 17 years at Grand Coulee Dam and then at Hoover Dam from 1986 until retirement in 2000.

During his years at Coulee Dam, he was also a volunteer fireman and emergency medical technician for the city of Electric City, Wash.

Eby coached youth sports in Boulder City, including T-ball, baseball, soccer and hockey, he was one of the biggest fans during his son Robert's football games at BCHS. He was also a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for many years in Boulder City.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a great joke and story teller. He belonged to the Boulder City Gun Club and was in his element when participating in the annual Turkey Shoot. He was also a member of the Boulder City Nevada Car Club and a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Eby is survived by son Robert J. Eby of Boulder City; and son and daughter-in-law Michael L. and Deliz Eby and grandson Anthony Michael Eby of Henderson; sister Cathy Matchett of Vacaville, Calif., and sister and brother-in-law Susan and Stephen Sears of Vashon, Wash.; nieces and nephew Leanna Matchett Archambault (Andrew), Rebecca Youman (Chris), Maureen Stoll (Doug), Kathleen Sears, Emily Guadamuz (Jonathan), Angela Sears, and Andrew Sears (Kara).

He was preceded in death by brother Michael Ray Eby.

Private services will be held in Washington State at a later date.

Hites Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
