James V. Ayres, 63, died Aug. 5.
A Boulder City resident since 1959, he was born May 8, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was a retired police officer and a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Merle Jensen, of Boulder City; son Stephen Ayres of Las Vegas; sister K.C. Graves and husband Bruce of Las Vegas; and granddaughter Ciera Daen Meixner of Las Vegas.
The family requests memorial donations go to the Injured Police Officers Fund, 9330 W. Lake Mead Blvd., No. 130, Las Vegas, NV 89134.
Services were held Aug. 12 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Palm Mortuary handled the arrangements.
