Assemblyman Joe Hardy summed up the feelings of many of the people at Saturday night’s Boulder City Chamber of Commerce party with a short speech, punctuated with applause from the audience between each sentence.

“I like Mike,” he said.

“We like Mike.”

“Mike likes us.”

“Thank you Mike.”

“My friend and our friend, Mike Pacini.”

The party at the Boulder Creek Golf Club was to honor Pacini, who served on the Boulder City Council for 12 years, the maximum allowed by term limits. Pacini and Andrea Anderson left the council in June, when newly elected members Cam Walker and Duncan McCoy were sworn in.

Spread throughout the room were posters and milk cartons listing Pacini as “missing” from the council and other organizations he was involved with.

“What you brought to us is genuine public service,” said City Manager Vicki Mayes, who presented Pacini with a plaque.

Mayor Roger Tobler read a proclamation declaring the day Mike Pacini Day.

“It was a real honor and privilege to work with Mike,” he said. “He was somebody that you knew always had the city’s interest at heart.”

Pacini was also honored by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, whose board he was a member of for 6 years, and by the League of Cities, the city of Las Vegas, Lake Mead Cruises and the Sunrise Rotary.

“It was an incredible 12 years and I loved every moment of it,” Pacini said.
