Temperatures to climb into the 100s this week
Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 | 7:40 a.m.
Triple-digit temperatures make a return to Las Vegas today. And the hot weather will continue through the upcoming week, says the National Weather Service.
Las Vegas got a bit of a break from the high heat Friday and Saturday, when afternoon temperatures climbed only into the 90s.
But warmer temperatures begin returning to the valley today, as the afternoon temperature soar up to the 100-degree mark, with sunny skies and calm winds, forecasters said.
The average high for today is 103 degrees and the record for this date was 114, set in 1940.
The warming trend continues over the next few days, with highs either normal or slightly above normal: 103 degrees Monday, 105 Tuesday, 106 Wednesday, 105 Thursday and 104 Friday.

I just want to say how much we love Big Elvis at
Bill's. This man is so entertaining I would not miss seeing him every time I come. Thanks for such good entertainment.
Dave: doesn't it bother your editors that the daily temperatures are consistently lower than what your newspaper predicts?
