LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

State’s tax structure doesn’t need fixing

The Sun’s latest attack on our best-in-the-country tax structure in Monday’s edition, “Time for a cure,” is just another in a long line of diatribes against a tax system that empowers people instead of politicians.

And what is the Sun’s alternative? Take the “best practices” of the “broad-based” tax systems in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, California, et al., and impose them here in Nevada.

Why not? Haven’t they worked beautifully everywhere they exist? Actually, no they have not, and bringing them here would be like injecting a cancer virus into Nevada’s body politic.

The Sun refuses to acknowledge the moral and economic imperatives of taxation in a free society and for as long as it continues to do so, its attacks on our tax structure are without validity.
